Ex-St. Louis County officer stole over $1,000 from department

Michael Wood, a former St. Louis County police officer was accused back in December of stealing more than $1,000 after putting in fraudulent overtime claims. Michael Wood, 39, was charged Wednesday with felony stealing over $500. According to police, Wood was arrested on Dec. 5 after an internal investigation revealed he had submitted 35.5 hours of fake overtime claims between Feb. 17, 2012 and Sept. 14, 2012. The fraudulent claims resulted in an over-payment of $1,191.02. Wood, who was a 10-year-veteran of the St. Louis County Police Department, was serving as an officer in the North County Precinct upon his resignation on Nov. 8.

His bond was set at $5,000
