Former Odessa resident, Chris Kyle and his friend, Chad Littlefield were killed at a shooting range outside of Fort Worth, Texas. The former Navy Seal and his friend’s bodies were found by hunters visiting the Rough Creek Lodge on Saturday, February 2, 2013. Both were dead from gunshots.
Authorities’ say former Marine, Eddie Ray Routh came to the shooting range and shot the two victims. He then stole Chris Kyle’s truck. He was caught a few hours later.
Chris Kyle grew up in Odessa and later moved to Dallas area. He served four tours of duty in Iraq. He was labeled one of the best Navy Seals Snipers in the world. After his tours he wrote a best seller called “American Sniper.”
Chris had a passion for helping veterans and their families. He accomplished this by helping emotionally and physically wounded veterans get in-house fitness equipment to help improve their way of life.
Chris Kyle was 38 years old and leaves behind a wife and children.
