Chris Zorich is preparing to plead guilty to several counts related to not paying his taxes. The Ex-Chicago Bear was charged for not filing tax returns from 2006 to 2009, when he earned over $1 million. NBC Sports shared the details on March 8.
Zorich is expected to plead guilty to four misdemeanors in relation to his failure to pay taxes. While he originally could have faced four years in prison, his attorney Matthias Lydon is hoping the ex-Chicago Bear charged will not be put into jail.
There has also been a state investigation into Chris Zorich and alleged issues with his charity, the Chris Zorich Foundation. The foundation stopped work in 2008, but kept asking for donations into 2010. He has been unable to account properly for the money, and admitted he paid himself a hefty $3,000 a month as “rent” because he used space in his home as an office.
Will the ex-Chicago Bear charged with the tax fraud face jail time? His attorney says Chris Zorich is anxious to move forward from the issues, but for now fans will have to stay tuned to see what the judge decides.
