Ex-Blues Magoos, Wings to guest with Beatles-connected Birds of Paradox (Photos)

The Birds of Paradox, led by Jeff Slate, which features musicians who have performed with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, will be joined by special guests who have played with Paul McCartney's Wings, the Blues Magoos and Lez Zeppelin for a show next week, according to a press release issued Thursday.

Peppy Castro, who will also play an acoustic set to open the show, was a member of Blues Magoos when they released their best-known song “(We Ain't Got) Nothin' Yet.” Steve Holley was drummer with Paul McCartney and Wings on the “Back to the Egg” album and played at the group's performance at the Concert for Kampuchea. Steph Payne is the founding guitarist for Lez Zeppelin, a female group that pays tribute to the music of Led Zeppelin.

The Cutting Room is located at 44 E. 32nd St., New York City. The show takes place at 6:30 p.m. March 20. Tickets are available on the nightclub's website.

Birds of Paradox also includes Gary Van Scyoc and Adam Ippolito of John Lennon's Plastic Ono Elephant's Memory Band, Alex Alexander and Jimmy Mack. The group released their debut album last Oct. 9 on what would have been John Lennon's birthday.
