An ex-beauty queen sentenced this week made news headlines, SF Gate reported this Friday, Feb. 15, after former beauty pageant star Peggy Sue Thomas was convicted of murder and sentenced to four years in prison for playing a part in murder.
Peggy Sue Thomas, 47, pleaded guilty to rendering criminal assistance last month as prosecutors had prepared for a trial on a full murder charge. She won a Ms. Washington beauty pageant at age 34 in 2000.
The ex-beauty queen sentenced to four years in jail was accused of plotting to kill Russ Douglas with a partner; Douglas was found dead from a gunshot wound back in 2003.
Peggy Sue Thomas and the partner, James Huden, were dating during the time of the murder; Huden was convicted of the murder the summer of 2012 and sentenced to 80 years in jail.
