Wherever you are at noon (local time) on July 7, Ringo Starr asks that you take a moment to celebrate “Peace & Love”. Ex-Beatle Ringo Starr turns 70 years old on July 7 and calls for fans to celebrate by saying "Peace & Love" in honor of his birthday at noon all around the world.
The Peace & Love celebration began in 2008 when Ringo was asked by a reporter what he would like for his birthday. Ringo replied, “more Peace & Love.” Ringo encouraged everyone everywhere to say Peace & Love at Noon their local time. That year, Ringo and his wife, Barbara Bach, joined a crowd of fans in front of the Hard Rock Hotel in Chicago to celebrate Peace & Love.
This year, Ringo encourages fans in several cities to celebrate Peace & Love. In London, fans will celebrate with a Peace & Love moment at the famous crossing in front of Abbey Road studios. In Los Angeles, fans will gather for a Peace & Love moment in front of the Capitol Records building where the stars for Ringo, George and John are located on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Ringo Starr himself will be in New York City on his birthday getting ready for his concert at Radio City Music Hall that evening. Also on July 7, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will be unveiling Ringo Starr's gold-plated snare drum in a special exhibition honoring his 70th birthday. A performance of "Live From the Artists Den" taped earlier this year at The Met with Ringo and Ben Harper and Relentless 7 will premiere this week on PBS.
As stated in a press release today by Ringo's publicist: "Please join the wave of Peace & Love as it continues this July 7, 2010. Whether you say it along with a crowd, out loud as you go about your day, Tweet it or simply think the words, we hope you will join Ringo in celebrating ‚'Peace & Love' wherever you are at Noon your local time."
