Ex-"Bachelorette" star and new "Bachelor," Jake Pavelka
(TVGuide)
Ex-"Bachelorette" star Jake Pavelka has been named the new "Bachelor."
ABC has confirmed that the 31-year-old pilot from Dallas will star in the 14th edition of the show starting in January 2010.
Even if you didn't watch season five of "The Bachelorette," I have a feeling you know who Jake is. Jake made TV news headlines well after his elimination when he came back to rescue the woman he loved from a cheater. Jake told viewers he couldn't sleep at night knowing that Jillian Harris, the season five bachelorette, was still dating Wes Hayden, a man who we all now know had a girlfriend at home and was only on the show to promote his singing career. P.S. - I still haven't seen that album around.
Jake's attempt to save Jillian from a broken heart won a lot of female viewers over but not everyone is singing his praises about being the new bachelorette. Granted, he is absolutely adorable and would apparently do anything for the woman he loves, but on "The Bachelorette" he seemed a little boring. My hope for the season is that we see a little more personality from Jake. I mean, I'd like to believe that ABC wouldn't have chosen him had they not believed he would make good television, but, having watched most of the previous seasons, ABC doesn't seem to always have the best taste.
