EWG petitioning Governor Patrick about bottled water

Bottled water has gotten bad press this spring with some towns in Massachusetts even banning the sale of bottled water. But it has just been announced that the State government of Massachusetts is actually using taxpayers money to purchase bottled water for governmental offices. EWG reports that bottled water can be up to 1,900 times more expensive than regular tap water and takes 2000 times more energy to produce. Not good numbers for the state if they are really concerned about saving money and energy in these "tough economic times". EWG has started a petition to Governor Patrick- urging him to stop spending money on unnecessary bottled water. If you would like to read more about the petition, you can go to

Environmental Working Group's (EWG)  mission is to use the power of public information to protect public health and the environment. EWG is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded in 1993 by Ken Cook and Richard Wiles.
