EW exclusive first look at Star Wars Rebels

In a future not too far from today, the beginning of the new Disney produced Star Wars era will officially debut with a new animated series Star Wars Rebels airing next fall on Disney XD. Star Wars fans will be excited to learn the new animated series will take place between Episodes III and IV, covering the events leading up to the original film and the birth of the Rebel Alliance.

Entertainment Weekly is the first news source to provide a new image of the upcoming animated series. Front and center is the show’s new villain, the Inquisitor, an assassin of the Emperor assigned to hunt down any remaining Jedi, and next to him are two very familiar soldiers dressed in white armor. Not to be confused with Clone Troopers from the prequels, but Star Wars Rebels will feature the return of classic Stormtroopers from the original trilogy. Since the new animated series takes place before Episode IV: A New Hope, fans might be lucky enough to see the return of many beloved characters: C3-P0, R2-D2, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Chewbacca, etc. . .

It’s too early to make any major Star Wars story/character appearance predictions. However, the debut of a new Star Wars animated series is appropriate timing with Episode VII schedule to be released in 2015.
