'Evolve' goes up for pre-order with bonus monster character and skin

Evolve comes with the Savage Goliath Skin for those that pre-order. (2K Games)

Evolve, the four versus one shooter from Left 4 Dead developers Turtle Rock, was revealed last week with a spread in Game Informer. 2K Games officially announced the game Tuesday for the PS4, Xbox One and PC with details on the Monster Expansion Pack for that that choose to secure their copy early.

The game is a co-op science fiction shooter with a bit of a twist. Instead of facing down a horde of monsters or enemies, four players with unique abilities will gang up against a single player online. However, that single-player has the advantage of playing as a tough to bring down monster that evolves from match to match with its own set of abilities.

“Our philosophy is to build incredibly fun game experiences that we can’t find anywhere else,” said Chris Ashton, co-founder and design director at Turtle Rock Studios. “Evolve’s co-op vs. lone wolf formula has created some of the most intense multiplayer matches we’ve ever experienced.”

Evolve will be a generation-defining multiplayer experience,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “As our first new IP for next-gen systems, 2K is working with Turtle Rock Studios to deliver a game that’s instantly entertaining and impossible to put down.”

Pre-orders for Evolve are now being taken at Amazon, GameStop and Target with Best Buy, Toys R Us and Walmart coming soon. Those that pre-order the game will receive the Monster Expansion Pack, which includes the Savage Goliath skin at launch and a new monster character as soon as it becomes available after Evolve is released.

Evolve is currently scheduled to be released sometime in between August and October of this year.
