Sony and developer Evolution Studios released two new gameplay clips earlier Tuesday afternoon for the upcoming Playstation 4 exclusive, "Driveclub". Shared through Instagram and Facebook, the footage focuses on the realistic dynamic weather system that will be a free update for all players after the game's launch.
In an interview with Sony featured on the PlayStation Blog, Art Director Alex Perkins from Evolution Studios says the studio's goal was to make the weather system "as immersive and fun as possible." "Driveclub" players will experience a variation of weather elements which include downpours, sleet, and blizzards. In addition, players have the ability to customize the weather and create unique challenges to share with friends.
"You can expect it to change dynamically and unpredictably while you race — because we've designed it to be just like real weather systems," said Perkins. "The cloud cover and conditions you choose will dictate how much snow and rain will fall. The wind direction and speed determines where snow will settle. Then when it stops, the temperature and height of the sun governs how quickly clouds evaporate and roads dry out. We’re really striving for consistency in every detail just like we have done with everything else in the game."
"Driveclub" is expected to launch on October 7 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
