The Evolution tournament, or Evo as it's commonly referred to, lineup has been officially announced for the 2013 event and will also afford gamers a unique chance to contribute to breast cancer research.
The tournament is arguably one of the biggest regarding fighting games, featuring talented players from around the globe, and will take place in Las Vegas on July 12-14.
The announcement detailed that the event would hold tournaments for eight separate games including Persona 4: Arena, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter x Tekken (2013 ver.), Tekken Tag Tournament 2, King of Fighters XIII and of course, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition (2012 ver.).
Those seven games were confirmed for the event, the eighth however, would be left up to the gaming community to decide. The tournament coordinators detailed in their announcement on Shoryuken.com, that the eighth tournament (out of a pool of 11 potential games) would be awarded to whichever game has the most donations towards the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
The games up for the donation drive include Capcom vs. SNK 2, Dead or Alive 5, Divekick, Guilty Gear XX:Accent Core +R, Injustice, Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code, MLP: Fighting is Magic, Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, Skullgirls, Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
The drive will be open until the end of January, at which time the title that has raised the most money for the charity will be officially added to the tournament list for the event. The tournament officials have promised that all of the money raised will go directly towards the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Evo will be held at the Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on July 12-14.
