The evil eye is a malevolent look that many cultures believe causes injury or misfortune at the person whom it is directed for reasons of envy or dislike. The evil eye is usually given to others who remain unaware.

Belief in the evil eye is strongest in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the Mediterranean region of Europe. Many major religions recognize the Evil Eye, including Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish and Muslim faiths.
There were three types of evil that it is believed come from someone giving the evil eye. The first is unconscious evil eyes that hurt people without intent, such as someone looking upon another jealously. The second is evil eyes that intend to hurt and the third type of evil is unseen, hidden evil.

To protect yourself against the metaphysical mayhem, you can do rituals or chant phrases after you feel you have been attacked. For example, to protect from others’ anger and criticism and to ignore others’ criticism chant the mantra “OM JOOM SAHA SAHA JOOM OM”. Instead of reacting with anger, chant the mantra, which protects you against evil eye too. (Mantra Healing) It is speculated that ancient Egyptians wore eyeliner to protect the wearer from the evil eye – both giving and receiving it. Or wear an evil eye amulet, which reflects the power of the evil look. It is concentric blue and white circles to symbolize and eye. There is also the "Hamsa" which looks like a hand with the evil eye symbol on the palm.

EvilEyeGems at etsy.com has some great evil eye jewelry including this bracelet, which is my new favorite. It is sterling silver and is $33.99. Seems like quite a bargain to protect one from all that cosmic craziness.
