Tuesday, April 24th was a day of questions for Michigan beer drinkers as Michigan Brewing Company was evected from its Webberville location. The rent for the 76,000 square foot production facility, which also contanied the MBC brewpub and homebrew supply store, could not be successfully negotiated, and the long-time I-96 fixture is in jeopardy of losing its placement.
The development of the Fenton, Michigan location has also been halted due to the lease of the former Fenton fire department building being terminated in light of financial troubles for the brewing company. There is currently no information as to to what the effect will be for MBC's brewpub in downtown Lansing.
Michigan Brewing Company is the manufacturer of a few very recognizable brands of beer in the Southeastern Michigan area. MBC's High Seas I.P.A. and Macinac Pale Ale are craft beer store staples, and the Celis line of wheat beers (White, Grand Cru, Raspberry) have been providing summertime refreshment for years. MBC is also the manufacturer of Kid Rock's aptly named brew, Bad Ass Beer.
