With Occupy Wall Street (OWS) trending in social media and news headlines across the globe, colleges and universities are providing resources for their students to aid in the researching of this very timely topic. It’s a safe bet that students will be tapping the OWS topic to use in their final term projects and research papers due before the end of the semester. To aid in that research, Towson University (TU) in Towson, MD has produced a library guide to be used as an informational tool on the OWS movement. TU has incorporated material that contains frequently updated media updates; but they warn that although they wanted to offer the best information available, they cannot claim that some of sites are not free of bias. Below, see a fairly comprehensive listing of resources regarding Occupy Wall Street.
The Occupy Wall Street protest movement began in New York City’s Zuccotti Park in September of 2011. The movement has grown and spread throughout the country. On their website, they describe the movement as a non-violent fight, “against the corrosive power of major banks and multinational corporations over the democratic process, and the role of Wall Street in creating an economic collapse that has caused the greatest recession in generations.” ~ per TU
