Bacon will shrink and curl a lot when it is fried in a frying pan or on a griddle when the heat is turned up too high. If you are one who will continue to cook bacon this way lowering the heat and letting it cook longer will prevent it from shrinking a little but will stop the curling from occurring.
Now if you want to eat a crisp slice of bacon full of flavor without it shrinking and no curling at all then baking is the way to go. It is so easy to do and leaves the stove clean and available to cook those eggs or dinner entrée’s that need some bacon added to the mix.
Start out by pre-heating the oven to 350’. Then place the bacon strips on a cookie sheet. Put the tray in the oven and set the timer for 20-30 minutes. Once the bacon is cooked remove it from the tray and place the slices on paper towels to absorb any excess bacon fat. By this time your breakfast or dinner meal will be cooked and you can add the bacon to your entrée.
The cooked bacon slices can be stored in the refrigerator up to seven days. Just wrap them in aluminum foil. They can also be stored in the freezer after being cooked for four to six weeks without losing its wonderful flavor.
