Your eyes will be smiling even if you aren't Irish when you attend the annual St. Patrick's celebration and parade in Dublin, Ohio on Saturday, March 16. Here's your chance to experience a bit of the Emerald Isle without needing a passport. Located s few miles northwest of Columbus, Dublin is approximately a 2 hour, 20 minute drive from Cleveland.
Dublin, Ohio St. Patrick's Celebration Running from 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., the featured attraction of the festivities is the huge, miles-long St. Patrick's parade starting at 11 a.m. Showcasing more than 110 units, the parade will feature bands, floats, giant helium balloons, clowns and maybe even some leprechauns and St. Patrick himself.
Named by Orbitz in 2012 as one of the "Top 10 Spots to Get in the Irish Spirit," the Dublin, Ohio St. Patrick's Parade is expected to attract more than 20,000 people and it is highly suggested that you arrive at least an hour before the parade in order to get a viewing spot.
Kicking off the all-day festivities is a pancake breakfast at 7:30 a.m. followed of course, by the parade and lots of Irish activities throughout the city including live Celtic musical performances, Irish dancing, Irish food cooking demonstrations, a bagpiper and a penny whistle demonstration.
And make sure you stop by some of the local restaurants and enjoy such Irish fare as Irish potato chowder or scones and tea.
Visitors will also be able to purchase some fine Irish imports merchandise at various Dublin stores.
Hours for the Dublin St. Patrick's celebration are 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Admission is free.
