The Charleston Bead Show, by Intergalactic Bead Shows, was held Sept. 7th and 8th, 2013 at the Omar Shrine Temple in Mt. Pleasant, SC, and it was a great show. This was an unusual opportunity for antique collectors, shopping to replace parts of antique or retro jewelry. Jewelry makers of all types of jewelry were there.
Many dealers were there with every kind of gem, faceted in every kind of way, just natural, or round. There was every color imaginable, and every shade. There was also amber and coral. There were pearls in every color and size.
One of the dealers is from Pendleton, SC, Mirwise Wardak. He had a lot of Roman glass. Dev Mishra of Purity Beads from Charlotte, NC, had some of the finest gems there. His website is www.puritysilverbbeads.com.
The large display of Calvin Ng of New York was in the very back. Bead Plus Silver is his company. Unfortunately, like so many of the dealers there, he does not have a website. The unusual thing about these shows, is you have to get it while you can, because if you miss out, you just have to wait until the next show. Even the main exhibit by Beads of Cambay had much better prices than their website, www.beadsofcambay.com. Their next show in Charleston, SC may be in May, 2014. People should go to their website to verify their show dates. It is an educational experience and you can save a lot on things you may have thought you could never afford.
