Even if you are not a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Stone Harbor, you probaby have heard of their wonderful ministry through the Heavenly Scavengers and St. Mary’s This ‘n That Thrift Shop in Rio Grande. Although pick ups are not currently available, you may drop off your good, used clothing and furniture at the thrift shop, located in the Village Shoppes, any time during regular business hours, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
While you’re at it, if you have any household items, glassware, games, books or costume jewelry, help keep the thriving second hand store in stock by bringing items to the facility or dropping them off at the parish hall.
The church also established a partnership center called The Branches a couple of years ago. The center serves as a meeting place for any events connected to “Episcopal Partners in Ministry in Cape May County,” the congregation’s partnership with St. Barnabas Church in Villas.
Community activities, educational programs, and self-help meetings, which will help grow church presence in the county, are also part of the program. Both churches will be brainstorming how they might work together to help the sick, hungry or poor around the world and in our own backyards.
This is but a fraction of the loving service St. Mary’s offers our neighbors. If you would like to join in the fun and the love, the church is located at 9425 3rd Ave. in Stone Harbor.
