Ever wondered what happens when you press that big, red button on the gas pump? (with funny video)

If you ever see one of these at the gas station, don't press it.

You and I both know that every time you're filling up your car, you see that big, red "Emergency" button on the gas pump and think to yourself, "I wonder what would happen if..."  Well, thanks to the video below, you'll never have to wonder again.  In this funny clip, one very curious, very dumb young man decides to hit the big, red button.  Read on to see what happens next, my gentle Examiner readers...

Human beings like pressing buttons.  If you've been in an Office Max recently, you've probably seen those big, obnoxious toy buttons that say things like "Git-R-Done!" or "That was easy!" whenever you press them.  We hate those buttons.  But for someone like the dude in the video below, a toy like that would make for one helluva belated Christmas present:

So, now you know.  That's what happens when you push the big, red button on the gas pump.  We like to imagine the shock and confusion the guy on the other side of the pump must have been feeling right when those fire-extinguishing jets kicked in.  And you just know that dude was probably on his way to a job interview or something.  Congratulations, dude in the above video: you've earned your very own "Funny Video of The Day" article and our prestigous "Jackass of The Week" award.  Don't let it go to your head.

UPDATE:  It's been brough to our attention that we've received a lot of traffic on this article thanks to the good folks at StumbleUpon.  To all these StumbleUpon users out there: thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to hit the "Subscribe" button up top to get all the Comedy Examiner articles we run, free of charge, delivered straight to your email as soon as they're written.  Every day we've got new funny videos, news, and more, so don't miss out: hit the "Subscribe" button right now!  And thanks for coming by!

We got the above video from Comedy Examiner reader "Lilly J.", who wanted us to make sure to note that it wasn't her in the video.  Thanks for pointing that out, Lilly: we're fully aware that, just because you sent the video in, that doesn't mean you were the star.  Way to have a big ego, Lilly.  And thanks for sending in the clip.  While we're waiting on the next funny video or bit of news, check out these other recent

that's a good way to steal gas come to think of it, i was surprised to see the two cars still there

  • ano 2 years ago

you cant steal has by doing that because the CO2 will not let the engine start so you can try

  • cap'n obvious 2 years ago

you cant steal gas that way because they would have a video of you filling your tank up and then pressing the button to get away. duh.

It's not CO2. It's called Halon. It is the same chemical that is put in fire extinguishers for aircraft, and it is far more effective at fighting fires than CO2. But "ano" was right about a car not being able to start if it is engulfed in the stuff.

Wow. In my gas station the big red button just cuts the power to the gas pumps. No fancy chemical fire suppression system there! What happened to the two guys that were there? Did they melt or something? They're probably just out of range of the camera where the guy who pressed the button is getting his ass handed to him.
