Events update

The weather's warming up and the sun is supposed to shine, so grab that leash and head out for some fun! Here are some of the happenings for the next two weeks.

Of course, this is the big weekend for the Detroit Kennel Club. Saturday and Sunday, March 6 – 7 is the annual Detroit Kennel Club Dog Show at Cobo Center, 1 Washington Blvd., Detroit, MI. Price: $12 adults, $8 seniors and children younger than 12, free for children younger than 2. There will be all kinds, sizes and shapes of dogs along with vendors.

On Sunday March 7th from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm the non-profit group, Internet Min Pin Service, IMPS, will be having a Blessing of the Pets and Pet Expo. The event is being held at the Centerline Masonic Lodge, 8120 Nine Mile Rd., Warren MI. The Expo is free to the public. The Blessing of the Pets will be at 1:00 pm and it's a $3 donation per pet for a blessing and a certificate. There will also be a pet physic; trainer; a Certified Animal Chiropractor; Holistic Nurse; Pet Taxi; all natural pet products and several dog rescues with animals for adoption.

On Thursday, March 11th, Canine To Five's PUPPY MANNERS CLASS starts at 7:30 pm. This class will meet for 4 weeks, for dogs 10-20 weeks, and the cost is $100. This is a great opportunity to socialize your baby dog and learn the skills you'll need to raise a happy well mannered pooch. Space is limited in this class so sign up today. On Saturday March 13, bring your dogs out to march in the Royal Oak St. Patrick's Day Parade, 11:30 am, 709 N. Washington Ave., Royal Oak, MI. The Norman O'Brien Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians will host the Saint Patrick's Day Parade in Royal Oak and dogs are welcome. Several Meetup groups, including the Metro Detroit Bichon Frise Meetup Group, the Troy All Dogs Play Group, and the Detroit Area Dachshund Meetup Group will be marching in the parade. The dogs are sponsored by The Uppity Puppy in Royal Oak. Don't forget to dress up your furry friends and yourself in green!

Also on Saturday March 13, Town Village Sterling Heights Pet Therapy Meetup will be meeting at 10:30 am in Sterling Heights, MI to visit the seniors at Town Village. You can join the group for free at meetup.com.

On Sunday, March 14, The Troy All Dogs Playgroup Meetup will be having a doggie playdate at 10:30 am OR 2:00 pm, Troy, MI. You can join the group for free at meetup.com.

And on Sunday March 14, you can bring your dog and enjoy the Canine to Five Winter Walk, 10:00 am – 11:30 am, Detroit, MI. Join the Canine Club on our Winter Walk, held the 2nd Sunday of the month, January through April, 2010. We'll park at Rivard Plaza, walk up the Dequindre Cut and back. Dress warm!!!
