Events for the Irish month of February in Wilmington, Delaware

The Irish community of Wilmington Delaware celebrates their culture through various events held at the Irish Center and pubs in Wilmington and at other sites throughout the Brandywine area. February is Valentines Day and the feast of the patron saint of Ireland -- St Bridget. Many of the events this month reflect those celebrations with song, dance, dinner and mass.   

In honor of the feast day of St. Bridget (Feb 1st), Holy Family Church in Newark will hold a special Mass celebration the Irish Saint.  The Mass will be held on Feb 12 at 10am. The church is located at15 Gender Road, Newark, Delaware 19713.  For more information call (302) 368-4665.

Feb 12th – Stuffed Shells Dinner 

The center will hold a Stuffed Shells Dinner on Sunday afternoon from 3pm to 6pm.  Dinners are $8 for adults; children age 12 and under are $6.  Reserve your dinner by calling Dot King at 302/994-0073 or Phillis Pini at 302/354-1356. Tickets can also be purchased at the center’s Pub on Wednesdays nights.

Feb 11 – A Valentine Dance   

The center is hosting a Valentine Dance featuring Theresa Flanagan and her band. The dance will be held from 8pm to midnight on Saturday, Feb 11th. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.  Tickets can be purchased in the Pub on Wednesdays evenings or by calling Dot King or Phyllis Pini.

Feb 19 – Valentine Ceili and Pot Luck Dinner

Also in celebration of Valentine’s Day, the center will hold an Irish Ceili and Pot luck Dinner from 2pm to 6pm.  Live music will be performed by Pancho, Kevin and Jimmy.  Admission is $12 for members and $13 for non-members.  The bar will be open to purchase favorite beverages.

The Irish Culture Club  

The culture club holds monthly meeting at the Catherine Rooney’s Irish Pub, 1616 Delaware Avenue, Wilmington, DE.  The meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month.  They are also holding their annual Wine & Cheese gathering in February.  For more information for date and times, call (302) 45 I-RISH or email madisonka@aol.com .
