Hurray, the White Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals. The next game isnt until tomorrow. Well, how about this: Lets take a trip to the Western Illinois Macomb Museum. This local venue has activities that would appeal to all age groups. Oh, dont worry about little Sue or Johnny touching an antique quilt or climbing under a roped off area, the staff and docents have everything under control. Perhaps the young ones will be re-directed to a more engaging event such as face painting, water colors or another adult saying " ooh look." Phew... the quick thinking docent saved that valuable tool chest and averted a potential mishap. Western Illinois Museum will appeal to history buffs and not-so-history buffs. The only way to know what was and is happening in this region is to check it out.
Do you know of any high school students who would be interested in learning more about history and musuem practices? Do you know of any inquiring minds that would like to volunteer during the summer months? Volunteering is a great way to learn and give back to the community. Interested ones can contact the museum either in person or online at email@example.com.
Please feel free to visit the Western Illinois University Museum from 10 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday. The Western Illinois Musuem has two current exhibitions and other educational programs as well.
Until Next Time,
