The San Bernardino County Museum is local and filled with fascinating exhibits. Located at 2024 Orange Tree Lane, Redlands, California 92374, phone number (909) 307-2669, the Museum is a good place for family fun and education.

The hours are:

· Open Tuesdays through Sundays and holiday Mondays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

· Holiday Mondays include: Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Columbus Day.

· Closed most Mondays, Thanksgiving Day, Dec. 25, and Jan. 1

Admission is:

· Adult: $8

· Senior (60 or over) & Military: $6

· Student (with I.D.): $5

· Child 5 through 12 - $4

· Child under 5: free

· Museum members: free

· Groups of 10 or more are offered special rates. For reservations, group sales, and information about programs available for your group, please call (909) 307-2669 ext. 256

The Museum has permanent exhibits of history, anthropology and art, in addition to collections of mounted birds and bird art on the upper level, and North American mammal exhibits on the lower level.

The Museum is surrounded by citrus groves, and orange blossoms perfume the air. Visit the Zimmerman Citrus Kiosk to explore our citrus heritage. See a Southern Pacific locomotive and a Santa Fe caboose. A series of outdoor exhibits present the history of mining in the county, with authentic equipment including mine cars, generators, and a head frame. Lumber wagons, a water wheel that generated the first electricity in the city,and more large-size surprises are displayed on the Museum grounds. Don't miss the native plant garden outside the Exploration Station, the Sonoran Desert cactus garden at the Museum entrance, with the Mojave Desert garden alongside. Picnic tables and lawn are also available.

The Fabrics of our Past
Women, men, and children—what we wore offers insight into who we were, what we did, and how we were expected to behave. This special exhibit explores our past through textiles, costumes, accessories, and archival images from the museum’s permanent collections.

Paper Trails
Telling our stories with paper and ink.

On January 9, the public is invited to Reading Discoveries book discussion group with Curator of Education Jolene Redvale, 7:30 p.m. Free.

And on January 12, the Museum hosts Family Workshop, Fabric Collage, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Included with paid museum admission; reservations recommended.

And on January 19, the Museum hosts Lecture, Birds of the Salton Sea with Museum Director Robert L. McKernan. 2 p.m. Included with paid museum admission.
