This month there are a variety of activities for all ages at William F. Laman Library on Orange Street in North Little Rock, as well as the nearby Argenta branch on Main Street.

Laman Library will host a free screening of independent film The New Black by Yoruba Richen, on Tuesday May 6, 2014 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The film centers on the fight for marriage equality and how the African American community is dealing with the issue of gay rights.

On Thursday May 8, 2014 Laman Library will present musician Buddy Case as part of the popular Live at Laman entertainment series. The music will begin at 7 p.m. ending at 8:00 p.m. For those can’t be there in person, the concert will be rebroadcast on KUAR. Case, a singer/songwriter guitarist, is an award-winning triple threat, who is known, in part, for co-founding the acoustic bluegrass band Acousticatz.

On Tuesday May 13, 2014 teens will enjoy Nerd Night: Sherlock from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. This Sherlock Holmes themed evening will include games and trivia about everyone’s favorite sleuth.

As part of the Argenta Art Walk, there will be an artist demonstration by potter Celia Storey at the Argenta branch on Friday May 16, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Argenta branch will also host a puppet show adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk, performed by North Little Rock High School students on May 20, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
