Because of Vick's well known former involvement with dog fighting, Pat Brett, owner of Doobies Bar on the corner of 22nd and Lombard, decided to take a stand. In doing so, she sustained financial loss and business on Eagles game days, but she remains true to her convictions.
Brett claims as an animal lover and rescuer she just can’t support the home team while Vick is a member. And many support her decision to not air the games in her establishment as long as he continues to wear an Eagles uniform.
Some believe Vick has paid his dues, but she and others believe he could never be punished enough for his actions against innocent animals. According to Newsworks.org:
"Because of what Michael Vick has done to those animals, I can't in good conscience support the Eagles while he's a member of the team. He murdered and tortured animals and I can't forgive him for that.”

She will gladly broadcast any other NFL game for her patrons.
On Sunday, December 22, you can join other like-minded individuals to show your support for Pat by attending the Pit Bulls for Doobies event at Doobies Bar from 1-9 p.m.
They are hoping the event, being organized by Christine Berk, will generate a great turnout of animal lovers, lovers of the breed, and rescues and organizations that support pit bulls; but most importantly, anyone interested in supporting and honoring Brett for standing up against animal cruelty.
Come meet, learn, educate, and share information. They are also hopeful that it will help pit bulls find much needed foster or adoptive homes.
