Fashion and sports media turned out at Pole Position Raceway in New Jersey to take part in the Forgeois 500. In a beautifully cut navy blazer and jeans, 18 year old Luca Forgeois was the focus of attention as he gave interveiews, posed with fans and supporters, and raced against reporters on the go-kart track.
The fun packed 3 hour evening started in Lower Manhattan where guests were picked up in a charter bus and driven straight to the raceway. Guests were encouraged to snack on pizza and mini-quiches from Ceci Cela bakery. Beverages were bottles of Frava (a caffeinated fruit drink) and huge cans of Monster energy drink were on hand to get them amped up for their go-kart drives. Goodie bags containing towels from 24 hourFitness, racing car red water bottles from Danalex, and Pinch Me boxes stuffed with fun samples. Chris from Crew Love was on hand to give away the coveted 'You Can't Sit With Us' snapback caps for a lucky few.
Diagnosed as ADHD at 7 years old, Luca has struggled to find a place for himself. When he was 13 he started racing and found his passion. Racing is the one thing that keeps him focused, and as the crowd found out- he is super competitive. Nicole Solimano, guestblogging for My Life on and off the Guest List won one of the heats, but found herself powerfully thwarted by Luca for 1st place.
While Luca already has sponsors like Hint Water, Noizy Earbuds and Nooka watches- racing a car is prohibitively expensive. The event was also a way to publicly launch the Luca Forgeois crowdfunding campaign that will help him raies the funds to be an Indy racer.
