LuLu & Me, NoMad’s “Neighborhood Restaurant” will be hosting a special dining event during Gay Pride Week on Tuesday, June 24 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The event is called “Pride and Diversity,” and it features a five-course tasting menu prepared by Karen Fohrhaltz and Michael Miele. The menu offers a great variety of flavors that are both unique and delicious. Here’s the menu:
First tasting – Huevos al Diablo (deviled eggs) - fresh chorizo, pimento paired with Chatham Brewery's Pride
Second tasting – Four Cheese Fritters - prosciutto, Calabrian red pepper jam paired with LuLu's Amber Ale
Third tasting – Sea Scallop - red quinoa, parsnip, tomato, spinach paired with Pinot Blanc, Dom. Emile Beyer "12, Alsace France
Fourth tasting – Polpettine - meatballs in marinara sauce, garlic bread, LuLu's kale salad paired with Toscana Rosso, Corte alla Flora '10, Toscana, Italy
Fifth tasting – Ribeye Beef skewers - Asian barbecue sauce & slaw paired with Cotes du Rhone Villages, Famille Perrin '10, Orange, France
Each of these tastings is phenomenal, but the Polpettine is certainly a favorite. The beers and wines are paired perfectly with each of the tastings. All of the dishes are fresh, authentic, and memorable. The tasting menu is $65 per person with a portion of the proceeds going to the Ali Forney Center, an organization that saves children from the dangers of the streets by putting them in safe, homelike environments, making NYC a safer place for homeless LGBT youth.
