This year, combine Black History Month with science. A number of African American inventors like George Washington Carver changed life in the United States and outer space. With reader's theater scripts, students learn history, science and improve reading simultaneously.
African American Scientists and Inventors reader’s theater scripts make a perfect interdisciplinary study for February. Each interview with a notable contributor to science is self-contained so students can be divided into groups to read and rehearse; however some later interviews reference previously mentioned inventors and scientists. Reporter 5 provides comic relief as well as an explanation of some words. Writing prompts are included.
