Evelyn Lozada and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson were married for only two months when a domestic dispute between the two erupted. Johnson went to jail and Lozada filed for divorce. Wetpaint.com reported on Friday, Jan. 4 that photos of the one-time couple holding hands surfaced on the Internet.
After seeing the photos of Evelyn and Chad holding hands at an appreciation dinner for Chad, fans were quick to assume that the couple ere back together and all the drama between Lozada and Johnson was in the past. But Evelyn Lozada wrote a post on her blog telling fans that the pictures in question were not what they seemed to be.
“While at the dinner [for Chad Johnson], several photos popped up on the Internet of Chad and I holding hands, while in the process of blessing the food. The blogs made last night seem as though we walked hand and hand into the restaurant announcing a reunion, which wasn’t the case.”
Evelyn Lozada does say that she and Chad Johnson still “care for one another,” and they are attending therapy separately as well as meeting with a life coach to work on their issues.
“I care for Chad, we are friends and we love one another, however, we are still separated, not living under the same roof and working on ourselves because we have a long way to go. This is a normal and realistic process for anyone and I don’t know what the future holds for me, but I know God holds it and I’m taking things one day at a time.”
Chad Johnson and “Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada were married on July 4, 2012. The domestic dispute between the two erupted on Aug. 11, with Johnson claiming that Lozada head-butted him. Johnson was arrested and released on $2,500 bond Aug. 12. On Sept. 10 reports surfaced that Johnson refused to give Lozada a divorce. However, by Sept. 19 the couple's divorce became final.
