The PC MMORPG "EVE Online" is known for its political machinations as different factions vie for power and status through corporations and alliances. Those machinations came to a head Sunday as a massive 2,800 ship battle erupted.
The very basic rundown of how this occurred based on a Reddit post and The Mittani is that Something Awful's Goonswarm was planning an attack on a moon controlled by a small pirate alliance. The pirate alliance caught wind of the attack and requested help from the Pandemic Legion to ambush the Goonswarm.
Goonswarm's planned attack went haywire though when Dabigredboat, accidentally jumped his Titan ship into enemy space instead of bridging his entire fleet. Pandemic immediately sent in supercarriers to attack. And thus began a massive call for reinforcements from both sides that resulted in the game's two biggest coalitions, the Clusterf*ck Coalition (CFC) and the Honeybadger Coalition (HBC), engaging in an epic space battle.
The result of the battle was that Dabigredboat of Goonswarm lost his Titan, the most powerful and expensive ship in "EVE Online". Goonswarm is part of CFC which lost an additional two Titans plus 44 Dreads, 29 carriers and 5 Supercarriers. It appears that HBC got the better of the battle with only Carriers, 6 Dreads and one Supercarrier lost.
