Whether his name was called out or if he scored, fans would yell out “Leeeewwwww” to the sight of Lew Evans at Tulsa basketball games this past season.
But there will be no more of that as the 6-8 forward from Salt Lake City, Utah, has received a scholarship release and will not be back for the 2014-15 season. It was confirmed in a school press release Friday by new TU head coach Frank Haith
Evans, who came to Tulsa from Casper College in Wyoming, appeared in all 34 games with 22 starts during the 2013-14 campaign. He averaged 5.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, contributing to the program’s 21-13 record, which included a share of first place of the Conference USA regular season championship, the tournament championship and a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
It is unknown where Evans will continue his career.
His season-highs were 14 points against Tulane and 11 rebounds in games against Charlotte and Middle Tennessee.
