This past weekend, the Little Art Theatre in Yellow Springs was playing the first film in a four-film retelling of the 1994 anime classic, "Neon Genesis Evangelion."  One of the members of the theatre's programming board is a big fan of sci-fi and it was his idea to bring the movie to Yellow Springs, a town in southern Ohio near Dayton.

As a small cinema in a small town, the gamble of acquiring the film brought some surprising results. "This is the only movie I've seen people line up for," said one employee.  Twenty to thirty people came to each of the three weekend showings, making it the highest attended film at the theater that weekend.

Before airing the film, the theater showed a trailer for writer/director Hayao Miyazaki's "Ponyo" saying that it would be coming to the theater soon.

"Evangelion 1.0: YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE" is playing in Detroit this weekend through next Thursday. The Emagine Novi theater has four showtimes every day:

1:40, 4:40, 7:35, and 9:55.

Also, there has been a new showing added for Cleveland. On November 14th, the Cleveland Museum of Art will be screening the film.
