Evan Lysacek back to defend Olympic figure skating title

See also

Evan Lysacek won the men's Olympic figure skating title in Vancouver on February 18, 2010. He is back with the goal of defending his title. He has stated that he'd like to follow in the steps of US figure skating champion and two-time Olympic figure skating champion, Dick Button, who won the title in 1948 and then again in 1952. He also has made a statement that he is so proud to be an American and wants to be back at the Olympics to show that pride to the world.

When Lysacek was a little boy, he received a pair of ice skates for Christmas from his grandmother. Shortly after that, he began group ice skating lessons. When he was eight years old, he began taking private figure skating lessons. He went on to win the United States national juvenile boys title at the age of ten. That title led to more and more wins. He competed in the 2006 Olympics in Torino and won the US men's title in 2007 and in 2008.
