Hot on the heels of their $100 million-dollar baby "This Is The End" returning to theaters, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are looking to throw a party. A "Sausage Party", to be exact, and Sony Pictures is invited.
The studio will partner with Annapurna Pictures on the duo's next writing project. The studio announced the new collaboration this week. "Sausage Party" will be an animated film, and will be decidedly adult. Conrad Vernon("Shrek 2", "Monsters vs. Aliens") will direct, and Jonah Hill contributed to the story that ultimately led to Goldberg and Rogen's screenplay. Hill is also serving as an executive producer on the film.
"Sausage Party" will literally be about a sausage. The film's protagonist falls out of a shopping cart, and the predicament becomes a race against time. Can the sausage get back to the aisle in time for the Independence Day sale?
Hannah Minghella, President of Production for Columbia Pictures, commented, "We're thrilled to be back in business with Seth and Evan. This project has all the irreverent, insightful, and risqué R-rated humor we have come to expect from them."
Nitrogen Studios Canada, Inc, will be responsible for the production, including the computer-generated(CG) animation. While the film is expected to be geared towards the grown-ups, it has not yet been rated by the MPAA. The "Sausage Party" won't get under way for awhile, as Sony Pictures is looking at a 2015 release date.
