Eva Mendes could be questioned for her fashion on stage as it is an odd choice for the middle of June. However it is safe to say it wasn’t her choice. The actress was at The Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College of Performing Arts and performed in a premiere of The 24 Hour Plays on Saturday night. This isn’t your typical type theater and it definitely gives art a whole new dimension.
The 24 Hour Plays was all about putting together a play in a short amount of time. Six writers, six directors, twenty-four actors, a musical guest and production team will met at The Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College of Performing Arts. Then the cast members gave the writers ideas with the understanding that the play had to be written by 6 AM the next morning.
The actors only had hours to rehearse, and then perform the six new plays, interspersed with musical acts, for the very first time before a live audience. The 24 Hour Plays challenges the art of theater and gives everyone a chance to be part of the process.
With only hours to put together a play it appears Eva Mendes was dressed like a pumpkin as she fit the part. This unique type of theater performance had a packed house for those who wanted to see how the show would do live without much rehearsal time.
