Start your week off right with a Monday night full of some pretty incredible music. Once again the EARL will be loading up the back room with a trio of bands that know how to deliver sweet tunes.
The Wedding Present (WP) has made a career of delivering some of the best tunes that mainstream music listeners have failed to embrace. Head honcho David Gedge is a master song writer and is able to manipulate music to get the perfect sound for each song. The WP’s guitar driven rock music translates brilliantly to the stage and if you are at the EARL Monday night you will see what I mean. They will be playing all the songs from one of their best albums, George Best, as well as a selection of music from their numerous other records. This is a perfect reason to hit the town on a Monday night.
Joining WP on stage is the Athens, GA band Eureka California (EC), which should be a perfect fit since these dudes have a lot of similarities. EC delivers loud garage rock with the right amount of fuzz and distortion. Their set list will be full of tunes from the album Big Cats Can Swim which captures the sound and energy of their live shows. Get to the EARL early so you do not miss these guys, oh yeah and bring your ear plugs because they are a tad bit loud.
Sandwiched in between the lo-fi rockers is another Athens band, TaterZandra (TZ). Following the beat of a different drummer, TZ will take listeners in another direction with haunting rhythms and abstract melodies. It will be a nice change of pace from the other two acts.
This is the perfect way to spend your Monday night, cold beer, tasty food and a night of killer tunes. Whether you are starting the new week or continuing the weekend, the EARL is the place to be Monday night.
