Eugene welcomes first Snow of 2013

According to the national weather service, Eugene will see its first snow of 2013 early Thursday morning.

The Weather Chanel is predicting light to moderate snow for Western Oregon and the Southern Willamette Valley, with temperatures in the low 30s.

As of late Wednesday evening, looking out to the southwest, this Examiner notes a rapid cooling, as well as intermittent snowflakes falling on the Fernridge basin

Thursday morning commuters may expect icy road conditions, with possible road and bridge closure in higher elevations.

The E.P.D. recomends that if you must drive Thursday morning, drive cautiously, slow down, stay safe, and live! According to the Eugene Police, streets can be very misleading when icy or covered with light snow. It's not unusual to encounter black ice conditions while driving through Lane County.
