Etheareal Sounds Coalesce To Create Alpha Leonis's Shadows Of Men

Alpha Leonis feels like the soundtrack to a scene in which shadow beings populate an early morning deserted metropolis road.  The shadows creep and crawl as they  capture  subconscious images floating softly along a river of phosphorescent aether while the rest of the city is sound asleep.

The music of Alpha Leonis is incredibly gentle yet powerful and seems to pull influences from multiple artists such as Chris Martin,Jón “Jónsi” Þór Birgisson and Matthew Bellamy.  The compositions are uplifting, airy and utilize the space to use new innovative synthesizer sounds.

My favorite track off of the album "Shadows Of Men" has to be "Electrolumiscape-Los Angeles."  The track has a great ominous feel at the beginning and an awesome programmed drum sound that reminds me of some of the more bizarre tracks from Radio Head.  Later Electrolumiscape morphs into something more uplifting and heartfelt while still keeping a dark undertone.  The vocal work on the album is unpolished and feels a bit vulnerable which compliments the compositions well.

The album is very solid all the way through and is produced very well. From listening to the album I can tell there was a great deal of care given to the dynamics and feel of each song.  I have a feeling that people who are fans of soundtracks and cinematic music will relate to Shadows Of Men.  Everytime I listened to the album it conjured images in my minds eye and seems like it would compliment visual elements similar to Dave Mckean's work.   You can find Alpha Leonis on the web at the following sites

Nice review, definitely captures the moods of of the album well. Not sure I agree with the artist comparisons though, I hear Jonsi, but also a bit of Arcade Fire and definitely plenty of Radiohead. Overall, really enjoyed the album
