The American Cancer Society reports two out of three invasive breast cancers are found in women 55 or older, which means menopausal women are especially at risk. As a result, Estroven, an over-the-counter solution for menopausal symptom relief, is once again sponsoring the “Sleep Pink” campaign to promote pink pajama parties to celebrate survivors and heighten consciousness during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
The campaign also raises funds to advance access to quality breast health care, to research prevention and causes of breast cancer, and to ultimately find a cure.
For last year's inaugural Sleep Pink program, Estroven asked women to host parties and submit photographs to its website, with the company pledging a donation to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer for each party photo submitted. Sleep Pink was further promoted when television broadcasters wore pink robes on-the-air, asking viewers to participate in the initiative.
This year, Estroven will pledge $250 to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer for each party photo submitted, and $100 for every image uploaded of an individual in her pink pajamas. The program's website also provides ideas for Sleep Pink parties, including suggestions for décor, food and drink recipes, entertainment and party favors supplied by event planners across the country.
Estroven has partnered with the Avon Foundation for Women to raise breast cancer awareness and funds through the Sleep Pink program. Funds raised by the Avon walks are donated to leading cancer centers, research institutions and community-based organizations to support breast cancer research and access programs across the country.
"Estroven is passionate about addressing the issues that impact the lives of peri/menopausal women," says April Mills, Marketing Director at i-Health, maker of Estroven. "Together with the over 100 women and news anchors who hosted Sleep Pink parties last year, we raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Avon Foundation and aim to contribute even more in 2013."
