Esti

A sweetheart of a kitty, Esti was brought to the Liberty Humane Society in March 2010 when she was found wandering the streets of Jersey City Heights.  The good Samaritan who found her peppered his neighborhood with fliers about her, sure that she was someone's house cat because of her friendly disposition.  Unfortunately, no one stepped forward to claim her, so now she finds herself still an inhabitant of the shelter after more than a year.

Esti has gorgeous, unusual gray-green eyes, and lovely brown and black tabby stripes on a white coat.  She has a cute pink nose and small, delicate paws.  She's gotten a bit round in the shelter, due to lack of exercise accompanied by eating a bit too much to distract herself from her troubles.  But, under the careful eye of a loving human companion, she should have no problem trimming down a bit.

Esti will try to stop you in your tracks as you walk by her crate at the shelter – she is always reaching out with her paws and engaging passers-by.  She loves attention and luxuriates in being petted and brushed.

To give her a bit of a break from the shelter, Esti spent a month in a short-term foster home.  Her foster parents reported that she was a wonderful cat, perfect for someone looking for a low-maintenance companion.  “Esti is a friendly cat who is very calm and laidback.  She is perfect for small apartments as she doesn't jump on any shelves and cupboards.  Though she is not a lap cat, she will sit next to you and be scratched or brushed for hours.  She will come and sit next to you and nudge your hand with her head.  She loves being scratched on the head and back and lazing around the house.  She doesn't show any interest in "people food" (another advantage in small apartments with smaller tables) but will happily chow down on her cat food. While she doesn't play with toys often, she will chase a piece of string if you dangle it."

Esti is about four years old.  She has been spayed and is FIV and FeLV negative.  She would be best as an only cat, as she does not care for the other felines in the shelter.   On Tabby Tuesdays, when the shelter is open til 7, her adoption fee will be halved, from $120 to $60.

It’s been a long, lonely road for this charming kitty.  If you enjoy evenings curled up on the couch and would like a BFFF (best furry friend forever) to share the time with, Esti may be just your type of gal!
