Solange Knowles continues to prove that she is in the music business for the long haul. She also seeks to show that she can succeed on her own efforts. Yahoo! News reported on Thursday, Feb. 7 that Essence Magazine honored Solange Knowles at their 2013 Black Women in Music event.
The Black Women in Music event took place on Wednesday evening in Los Angeles, California. Solange Knowles took to the stage for a performance as well as honoree Lianne La Havas who is also a 2013 Black Women in Music honoree. The event was hosted by Kelly Rowland is also a 2012 honoree of Essence Magazine’s Black Women in Music celebration.
Solange Knowles is not only known for her fashion but as well as her unique natural looking hairstyles. However, she is first known for her music and work in films such as the “Bring It On” series.
The beauty of Solange Knowles music according to her adoring fans is her ability to mix old-school R&B with today’s current music. No matter that her music is different from her iconic sister Beyonce, Solange still continues to make an impact of her own within the music industry.
Solange Knowls is not only a singer she’s also a well-established songwriter, producer, model and DJ. NeNe Leakes shared her feelings on Solange Knowles success and felt that Solange could definitely make a mark for herself within the music industry.
“The industry is very funny. I think that she has a very powerful sister who is a fantastic performer. That is probably a hard role to really follow. I’m sure that she wants to set herself apart so that she can be viewed as an individual and I think that she can do that.”
