Local newspapers have teamed up with the Missouri Press Association and AT&T to offer an essay contest about the dangers of texting while driving. Winning essays in local competitions will enter the statewide competition, which has a $500 prize.
Community News is the sponsoring newspaper in St. Charles County.
The contest is open to all students attending a Missouri public or private high school. The local entry deadline is October 19.
Essays should be written as an editorial or opinion piece about the dangers of texting while driving a vehicle. Each essay should answer the question, "Why is it important to take the It Can Wait pledge to never text and drive?"
Essays should also encourage students to "Take the pledge to never text and drive at ItCanWait.com."
St. Charles County students should email their entries to email@example.com.
