ESPN McCarron apology: Network says Musburger "went too far" with Katherine Webb

ESPN has issued an apology for comments made by Brent Musburger during the 2013 BCS Championship game between Alabama and Notre Dame. My question is...why? Musburger made a comment on how attractive Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron's girlfriend Katherine Webb is.

However, by the reaction of some people, you would think World War III had broken out!

In a statement released Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 8, ESPN says that while it tries to capture "interesting story lines, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that." ESPN's Mike Soltys also said, "Brent declines to comment." Todd Musburger, Brent's brother and agent, told USA TODAY Sports: "We have nothing to add."

Musburger is one of the best in the business when it comes to calling games, something he has been doing for decades and to say these comments were out of line just seems like people are fishing for a story.

His comments were not degrading at all in my opinion.

Maybe ESPN should apologize for how bad Notre Dame performed and how boring the game turned out to be.

When you listen to the video below what do you think? Was Musburger out of line, or was he just making a comment that is being blown out of proportion?
