One of the most under represented sub cultures in our society when it comes to beauty is the geek culture. Apparently because geeks tend to be more about computers and comics versus cosmetics, there aren't very many cosmetic lines that are representative of this sub culture without crossing the line of cheesiness. If you go to Think Geek, you'll definitely find items geek oriented like Geek Chic Lip Gloss, RPG Scented Oils and Cupcake Bath Bombs but nothing that you would really call cosmetics. But many geek girls love cosplay so it's not like the thought of wearing makeup is alien to them so why not have cosmetics aimed at them?
Thanks to Espionage Cosmetics, the geek world now can find cosmetics that are aimed just for them. Starting this past Aug. 5 on Kickstarter, Espionage Cosmetics started their campaign to raise money for their project called 'Nailed It!' 'Nailed It!' is the world’s first nail-art line designed exclusively for nerds and lovers of all things glitter which includes nail wraps in four designs: galaxy, zombie killer, turtles, and tentacles. The nail are line is self-adhesive nail wraps that give the geeky girl perfect nails without actually painting their nails and waiting for them to dry instead of doing the things they love to do...like playing video games.
“We wanted to choose designs that would really stand out and weren’t available anywhere else. Some of them are just pure gorgeous and fun for any day wear, conventions, and so on,” Jaimie Cordero, creative director and chief makeup artist for Espionage Cosmetics told the Daily Dot.
Having reached their goal of raising $20,000 as of Aug. 16, Espionage Cosmetics released 24 different nail art designs in total that include inspiration from Dr. Who, Tim Burton, Steampuck, Spider Man and more.
Luckily for the under appreciated and under represented geek girls, Espionage Cosmetics also offers eye shadows and glitter but is looking to possibly extend their line into cosplay prosthetics, temporary tattoos, foundations and even glitter eyeliner.
