The In Memoriam portion of the Oscars is an Academy Awards staple.  And this year, while some of the men and women who died received just a picture homage, others (like Elizabeth Taylor) were briefly seen in short clips from their more popular movies.

Whitney Houston’s homage was of the picture variety.

Still, Esperanza Spalding’s rendition of “What a Wonderful World” was pitch perfect for the tribute.

When the video of Esperanza’s performance becomes available (the Oscar sharks are shutting down bootleg Academy Award videos hosted on YouTube today), it will definitely be posted here.

For now, enjoy video of Esperanza talking to Hollyscoop on the Oscar red carpet.  You can also view pictures of Spalding performing “What a Wonderful World” in the photo slideshow.
