Veteran crew chief Ernie Cope has joined JR Motorsports to work as crew chief on the organization's No. 5 NASCAR Nationwide Series team, replacing Mike Bumgarner. The No. 5 team will have a variety of drivers behind the wheel throughout the 2014 season, including car owner Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick and Kasey Kahne.

Cope most recently worked as a crew chief at Richard Childress Racing. In 2013, he led both Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart to Nationwide Series race wins in RCR entries.

Cope has nine-career Nationwide wins to his credit, eight of those coming with Harvick as driver. Prior to a two-year stint at Richard Childress Racing, Cope worked with Harvick at Kevin Harvick Inc.
