Erin Fetherston's Fall 2012 presentation of her less expensive ERIN line at Milk Studios was a hot ticket, literally. A standing room crowd of fashion scribes and retail buyers swarmed around sullen models perched on what looked like glowing wooden pedestals.
The fashionable harpist that greeted guests on the way in also hinted at what the designer described to The NY Post as a fantasy "world of glamazons living in a new age fairytale." Fetherston, a native of California, also told Time magazine the collection was "inspired by imagery from nature."
"I wanted to show the tension between elements that felt organic and elements that felt really electric," she said.
Feminine, flared party dresses in "soft, ethereal fabrics" dominated many of the looks, however, standouts included a herringbone coat (Rebecca Taylor also featured a herringbone coat in her Fall 2012 collection, so this look is definitely a trend to watch for fall) and a black maribou feather jacket with gold tincel lurex. The Post noted that "metallic fabrics and sequins brought looks into evening." We were also impressed by a strapless, chiffon gown in jade and a silk chiffon gown in a purple cosmic feather print.
