Jonathan Wayne Corwin, a Marines corporal, reported her missing on Sunday. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s department believe the circumstances warrant reason to blame foul play.
Corwin's car was found Wednsday after she vanished near the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps base. She and her husband reside on the base. The 19-year-old is described as "5'2'' tall, weighs 120 pounds, and has light brown hair and blue eyes."
Officers involved with the Erin Corwin search have received a heartfelt thank you from Erin's sister-in-law, DeeAnna Heavilin. She told the Los Angeles Times:
"It's been very special to us to see how people have been taking time out of their lives. It gives you a whole new look at humanity to see people who don't know Erin and, after all this is over, will never meet her even if she comes home -- there are just too many people to personally thank."
Heavilin adds that Erin is a sweet soul and very innocent. She's extremely trusting.
"She's just really timid and she has a terrible sense of direction. We were all scared for her to travel home on her own because she had to go through airports by herself and it can be kind of overwhelming if you don't have a good sense of direction."
Will the Erin Corwin search turn up anything?
