Erin Andrews is widely known for being one of the most popular sportscasters. From sideline reporting with ESPN to Fox Sports, she has made quite for herself in the broadcasting world. Now, Andrews, 35, is about to add another credit to her growing resume. According to a People report dated Sun. Feb. 23, Andrews will be replacing Brooke Burke-Charvet as the new 'Dancing With the Stars' co-host.
On Friday, Burke-Charvet, 42, released a statement to E!Online, which read: "I have enjoyed seven seasons co-hosting DWTS but understand the need for change considering the position of the show at this juncture," Burke-Charvet said. "I've always been one to embrace change and [I'm] looking forward to pursuing opportunities I previously wasn't able to entertain because of contractual obligations to the show. I've seen my fair share of shocking eliminations in the ballroom, but this one takes the cake."
On Saturday, she tweeted: @brookeburke "Thanks for all the love & support. I loved my time in the ballroom & I'll love my next chapter too. Change is positive. Love you guys!," she wrote.
Since the announcement was made, Burke has joked "they fired us all." A US Weekly source says it's nothing personal and everyone loved Brooke. However, the release reportedly blindsided her (as her tweet also seemed to indicate).
Seemingly though, Burke is going to be able to move on and and enjoy other opportunities now. In late 2012, the television host underwent surgery for thyroid cancer.
Though Andrews is no stranger to the 'DWTS' stage, last time she was on the show, she was one of the competitors. She and Maskim placed third out of eleven couples.
Now, with the news being out there, Andrews has responded to a GMA tweet which announced her new gig.
"Very excited! I have HUGE shoes to fill," she tweeted earlier today.
In case sports fans are worried about what this means for Andrew's NFL future, she insists she will balance both jobs.
Her new 'DWTS' job will begin on March 17.
What do you think about Andrews replacing Burke? Do you plan to watch the upcoming season?
